Integrity through Adversity

In late 2023, my team and I agreed to run sales for an entrepreneur’s event. We came prepared: five trained reps, a signed contract, and clear expectations.

Then, the day before the event, the client told us he was "surprised" by the compensation model. The same one he had already signed. It led to a frustrating back-and-forth.

In that moment, I had a choice. I could walk away, or I could find a way forward.

I chose to compromise.

I made sure my team was paid what we had promised, and I took the financial hit myself. It wasn’t what we agreed to, but I decided to show up with integrity anyway.

Then came the next challenge.

We expected 200 qualified prospects. Only 30 showed up, and most of them weren’t a great fit.

But we stayed in it. We gave our best. We showed up fully for every conversation.

We earned just $4,000 for three days of hard work.

But then something happened.

A month later, that same client referred me to someone new. That new client ended up investing over $20,000 with us.

And that client? They introduced us to another company. At their event, we generated over $1 million in sales and earned more than $100,000 in revenue for Faith2Influence.

All of that came from a moment where I could have quit.

Instead, we honored the work, gave our best, and kept our word.

Why am I sharing this with you?

Because I want to remind you of something that I needed to remember that day: God blesses our integrity.

Not always immediately. Not always financially.
But consistently through reputation, referrals, peace, and purpose.

If you're facing a tough situation in business, here are three things I’ve learned:

  1. Lead with honor, even when others don’t.
Don’t match poor behavior. Do your part with grace and truth. Excellence is a decision, even when it’s inconvenient.
  2. Look for the win-win whenever possible.
If that’s not an option, exit well. You don’t need to continue every partnership, but you do need to stay aligned with your values.
  3. Know when to give more and when to walk away.
You don’t need to be a doormat. But if the Spirit nudges you to go the extra mile, be willing to trust Him. That’s not weakness. It’s wisdom and strength under control.

In the early days of Faith2Influence, I didn’t always get this right.

But now I sleep well knowing our team chooses honor, even when things get messy.

That’s what I want for you, too.

Let’s build businesses that reflect Jesus.
Let’s treat people differently, especially when things are hard.
Let’s be coaches of integrity in a world that often cuts corners.

If you're in a tough season and trying to discern your next step, I hope this encourages you.
