Crafting Your Keynote Speech

short-game strategies

Can I be honest with you for a second?

When I first started speaking in front of audiences, I had no idea what I was doing. I'd share some good stuff, people would nod, clap politely… and then nothing. No new clients. No follow-ups. Just a nice moment that faded by Monday morning.

Sound familiar?

Here's what I didn't understand back then: a great speech isn't just about inspiring people. It's about moving them — from where they are to where they want to be. And when it's structured right, it can do something incredible: it can sell for you without ever being pushy.

I want to walk you through the exact 4-step framework I use and that I teach inside our community,  because if you want to build a six-figure coaching business, speaking might just be the single best strategy you have.

The 4-Step Keynote Framework

Step 1: Open With a Heart Story ❤️

Don't start with your bio. Don't start with a list of your accomplishments. Start with a story — something honest, vulnerable, and real.

The goal is for your audience to think two things at once: "They're just like me" and "I want to be a little more like them."

Jesus taught this way. He didn't open with credentials. He opened with parables and stories that made people lean forward in their seats. There's a reason that still works 2,000 years later.

Step 2: Teach Your Best Stuff 🤓

Yes, your best stuff. Don't hold back your gold for your paid program.

Great coaches are like great radio stations — they play the hits. If someone heard your best idea in your keynote and loved it, they're going to want more of it when they join your program. That's a feature, not a bug.

Step 3: Give a Clear Call to Action⏬

After you've taught, don't just let the moment dissolve. Lead people somewhere.

Whatever it is, your speech should produce movement — not just inspiration that evaporates by the time they get to the parking lot.

Step 4: Close With a Heart Story❤️

Here's where most speakers leave money (and impact) on the table. They wrap up the call to action and just… stop. Awkward silence. Half-hearted applause.

Instead, close with a final story. Return to your opening story with a new ending. Share a moment with your kids that ties it all together. Give them something to feel as your last words land.

You want them walking away smiling, moved, and thinking about you for days, not just clapping out of politeness.
