Good-cheap-fast
Are you struggling to price your coaching offers?
A while back, my client Paul Hatcher reminded me of a concept that completely changed how I think about pricing and positioning.
It's called the Iron Triangle (some call it "Good, Fast, Cheap").
Here's the rule: You can have two of the three, but never all three.
Let me show you exactly what this means for your coaching business...
The Iron Triangle Explained
Option 1: Good + Fast = Expensive. If you want high-quality results delivered quickly, it won't be cheap.
Option 2: Good + Cheap = Slow. If you want quality at a low price, it's going to take time.
Option 3: Fast + Cheap = Poor Quality. If it's quick and inexpensive, the results probably won't be great.
How This Plays Out in Real Coaching Businesses
My "Good + Fast" Offer: A Couple of months ago, my client Steve Thompson flew to Milwaukee for a solo immersion day. In 24 hours, we:
- Recorded 15 marketing videos
- Crafted his signature offer
- Clarified his mission statement
- Built his content pillars
- Created his sales strategy (including prospect list)
- Practiced role-playing his sales conversations
- Mapped his long-term marketing plan
Result: Incredible transformation in one day. Reality: It wasn't cheap. This is my high-ticket offer.
My "Good + Cheap" Offer: Christian Coaches Academy (CCA) - just $75/month. Over 100 amazing coaches get:
- Weekly live networking calls
- Private Facebook community
- Member directory for connections
- 25+ business-building trainings
Result: Fantastic community and solid training. Reality: It takes time. It's DIY. Results come through consistent effort over months.
The "Fast + Cheap" Trap: I see coaches trying to offer quick results at low prices all the time. Don't do this. It's either dishonest or you'll burn out trying to deliver the impossible.
What This Means for YOUR Offers
For your high-ticket signature offer: Position it as "Good + Fast" - premium pricing for premium results and speed.
For your entry-level offer: Make it "Good + Cheap" - valuable content at an accessible price, but set expectations that results take time and effort.
Never offer: "Fast + Cheap" promises. They hurt your reputation and your clients.
Your Next Step
Here's my question: Have you designed your signature offer using this framework?
Most coaches I meet are either:
- Underpricing their high-value work (trying to be cheap when they should be premium)
- Overpromising on timelines (claiming fast + cheap results)
- Not clear on their positioning at all
If you want to fix this, I've got something for you...

P.S. Remember: If someone promises you can build a six-figure coaching business "fast and cheap," run the other way. Good business building takes either time OR money. Choose your path wisely.
