Self-Care for Christian Coaches

Happy New Year! I hope this new year brings you moments of peace, joy, and the deep love of Christ. I know how busy the beginning of the year can get, especially when you’re working hard to serve clients, support your family, and keep everything running smoothly.

But can I gently remind you of something?

God didn’t create you to constantly run on empty. Taking care of yourself isn’t a luxury or something to feel guilty about…It’s an act of faith and stewardship. I’ve spoken with so many coaches who feel completely exhausted, convinced there’s no time for self-care. But here’s the truth: You can’t pour from an empty cup.

If you want to start 2025 feeling renewed–and ready to give your best to your family, clients, and team–I want to share a few things I’ve done over the years to prioritize self-care. These simple practices have helped me fill my cup so I can keep pouring into others.

Here are some ideas to inspire you to do the same, and I’m cheering you on as you take this step:

Take a walk outside—it’s an instant recharge for your soul.

Spend quiet, uninterrupted time with God. Whether you’re praying, reading scripture, or journaling, invite Him into your day.

→ Book an afternoon just for yourself—catch a movie, grab your favorite snack, and unwind without guilt.

→ Commit to a fitness class or activity that helps you connect with your body and feel refreshed.

→ Schedule “you time” on your calendar—whether it’s reading a book, calling a friend, or simply resting.

By choosing to care for yourself, you’re also honoring the body and spirit that God has gifted to you. The more you invest in renewal and rest, the more prepared you’ll be to serve with energy, joy, and purpose.

And this isn’t about stepping away from your values or responsibilities… It’s about leaning into them. A rested, renewed you is better equipped to coach, lead, and love with the faith-driven integrity you hold so dear.

You don’t need anyone’s permission to pause and recharge, but if you’ve been looking for a sign... here it is.

God Bless You and Happy New Year!
