"Win-Win or No Deal"

Have you ever been in a situation where you were so eager to help someone that you ended up creating a deal where they won, and you lost?
Been there. Early in my coaching career, I worked with a few clients who couldn’t afford my services. I thought I could help them, so I offered a revenue-sharing model. I poured my heart into coaching them, teaching them how to design their programs, launch their businesses, and even run retreats. Hours and hours went into this, but in the end, neither of them followed through, and I didn’t see a single dollar.
Ultimately, I created an unbalanced deal where they won, but I didn’t. And while we, as Christian coaches, often lean toward serving others selflessly, it’s important to remember that business relationships must be fair on both sides.
If this is you right now in your business, I want to remind you that you are not just here to serve others at the expense of your own well-being.
It is quite okay to say no in the process of building more WIN-WIN situations.
The Problem with Unbalanced Deals
“I Lose, You Win”
When you give too much and receive little in return, you create an unsustainable business model. It's tempting to help everyone, but you must also protect your well-being.
“I Win, You Lose”
Some coaches or salespeople create deals that benefit them rather than their clients. This creates a bad reputation for sales and destroys trust.
A balanced deal situation is a "Win-Win or No Deal"
It means both parties—you and your client—must benefit from the agreement. If it's not a win for both sides, it's okay to walk away.
In my business, we operate by this rule. This principle removes the pressure from making every sale, and it empowers you to maintain your energy, mental health, and relationships while still serving your clients at the highest level.
My invitation today is that if you’re finding yourself in unbalanced deals, it’s time to rethink them. You’re human. You need boundaries, self-care, and a full cup to keep serving others effectively. Remember, you can’t pour from an empty cup.
Are you creating win-wins? Or are you giving too much without getting the value you deserve in return? Now that you have the standards, let's get out and close more balanced deals.
